The village of Dafnes is located 19 km inland to the south, in the prefecture ofIraklion. In the typical traditional ambience at the village square, there is the possibility to sit down with Cretans in the various cafenions and to enjoy a Greek coffee.
In the village there are two mini markets, a post office, a taverna and two churches, which are well worth a visit. The church of Agio Zoni is situated at the beginning of the village and Agios Giorgos at the other end.
Dafnes and the surrounding area is a wide reaching, household name for superb wines; and there are endless views of the vineyards and the plantations. During a visit to a taverna, a taste of the wonderful product should not be missed.
