Nessebar is one of the oldest towns in Europe and the richest in architectural heritage from medieval times. The actual “birth” date is referred to by one source as 7000 BC and some sources as 5000BC. Most put it on 3000BC. Bronze and silver coins was minted in the 5th century BC and gold coins in the 3rd BC. The old Nessebar is situated on an island that was changed to a peninsula with a man made isthmus. The total area of the old town is UNESCO listed. The sights to see are too much to list here. The new Nessebar is on the main land and developing started after 1925. At this time restoration started on the old town.
