Pollensa is an ancient settlement at the north of Mallorca which, with Alcudia, was settled by the Romans.
An ancient roman bridge still survives at Pollensa. Today the town is a favourite of holiday makers with its picturesque Pine Walk, although much of the expanse of beach was washed away by a storm a few years ago. Located a few miles from the Roman town of Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa is one of the prettiest places on the island and has a magnificent backdrop of mountains surrounding and sheltering the town. Puerto Pollensa was originally a fishing village, and there is a large marina where you can stroll and admire the many luxury yachts. Puerto Pollensa is a great place for a holiday - wonderful scenery, dramatic mountains, beautiful beaches, and plenty of restaurants to choose from. A favourite place for evening walks is the Pine Walk which skirts the bay and offers beautiful views, you will see a variety of live singers, painters, or sand sculptors at work.
