This village is, these days, often mentioned in the same breath as Acoteias, but is in itself a real village rather than a name produced out of nowhere by a tour operator. All the guide books tell you that the famous thing about this place is the fresh water spring exposed amongst the rocks at low tide, well, if you are able to park, and are at the right time, and there isnt a drought, then you might be lucky! There are though plenty of rock pools and coves to explore. The new promenade (2002) has improved the beach front with both toilets and showers.
In the main season Olhos dAgua is a one way, frustrating trap for hire cars. You might get in but, especially at peak times, you will not find it restful, or conducive to a relaxing holiday. The steep hill, parked cars and people everywhere make attempting to leave a real driving nightmare. There are places to park at most times up the side roads. Having said all this place is constantly recommended, though not for nightlife, apart from eating out.
At the end of the season Olhos dAgua changes into a quiet resort. There is not that much to do in the evenings other than visiting one of a number of restaurants / bars in the town. On the other hand Albufeira, both the Town, and The Strip, are only a short distance away and there should be enough going on there to keep most people happy well into the night!
