|Annecy is a city in the Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France. It lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy (Lac dΆAnnecy), 35 kilometers south of Geneva.
The medieval town centre, built around a 14th Century Chateau, is dissected by small canals and streams running out of Lac Annecy, which is clean, fresh and a magnificent azure color. Stop at the Palais de lΆIsle, also called the ”old prison”” that was built in the 12th century. It is the symbol of the town and is among the most photographed monuments in all of France.
Another must see is the European Gardens, where one can admire the very rich and diverse vegetation. Visit the Pont des Amours, a beautiful example of the iron architecture typical of the 20th century and the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre.
