France is one of the top five tourist destinations in the world. It has everything that you could ever want to see on your holidays: a great city like Paris, good beaches, more monuments than any other country, lovely nature, incredible mountain scenery; the list is endless? France is also a very pleasant place to stay. It has good food, great wines and people enjoy their lives, but the best thing is that living in France does not have to be expensive.
Good food, lovely nature, the Riviera, and the roman ruins…that is the South of France in a nutshell. Cities like Marseille and Toulon are must sees. The Provence is dotted with pleasant small villages and beautiful castles.
Going more Northward, you will find the town of Lille and the Channel. The area will remind visitors in many ways of Belgium and the Netherlands. The Grand Place in Lille for example is a lot like that of Brussels. Paris, a.k.a. the city of lights and its surrounding areas are one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world and once you are there it is apparent why. Paris is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities on the planet.
The West of France is turned towards the Atlantic Coast. In the north you will find the rolling hills of Normandy & Brittany, sandy beaches and quaint little harbour towns. It has quite a different atmosphere to that of the rest of the country; you can still sense the Celtic origin of the region and its inhabitants. Nantes and Bordeaux (wine heaven) are the biggest cities on the west coast.
The eastern part of France consists of the Alsace, Lorraine, Franche Comté and Burgundy regions. The landscape has many beautiful cities and countryside. This region produces many famous wines, including some magnificent pinot noirs and chardonnays held in high regard all over the world.
Central France is in many ways the most quiet part of the country. But contains many great castles and beautiful towns which are off the beaten track.
Other attractions include the famous Tour de France cycle race and the Alps for a memorable skiing experience.
